Accessing Microreaction Technology

Contact us at: for more information on licensing the MRT Platform

  • Introduction

Accessing Lonza's Microreaction Technology Platform is easy.  Under a Research Evaluation Agreement (REA) customers will have access to our operating procedures, process protocols and algorithms for early product assessment using the FlowPlate® Lab Microreactor. The REA includes everything you will need to develop multiple products in your own facility.

Once you are ready to scale-up to your pilot or GMP batch a manufacturing license must be obtained for single-product manufacture.  Licensees may continue to hold a REA along with the Manufacturing License to allow further evaluation of new products.

  • Research Evaluation Agreement

    Lonza's Microreaction Technology REA Includes:

    Physical Materials

    • FlowPlate® Lab Reactor available from our equipment partner, Ehrfeld Microtechnik BTS
    • Ultrasound system
    • Dosage apparatus
    • Valves and actuators

Engineering Solutions Protocols (set-up, procedures and algorithms)

    • Protocols detailing the way to set up the lab system including operating procedures, protocols, and algorithms
    • High pressure/ high temperature applications
    • De-plugging and automatic cleaning
    • Established protocols for many chemical reactions (i.e. hydrogenation, organometallic, ozonolysis reactions)

    Lab Platform Processes

    • Protocols for developing the process including proof of concept (POC), optimization, and process robustness runs

    Intellectual Property

    • Patents, Know-How & Trade Secrets

    Technical support from Lonza’s experts

    • In-house or on-site training
    • Visits to customer sites as part of MRT tours
    • Technical teleconference following 3 months of using the MRT platform
  • Manufacturing License

When a customer is ready to proceed with a pilot or GMP run of a single product, a Manufacturing License must be obtained.  Licensees may continue to hold a Microreaction Technology REA along with the Manufacturing License to allow further evaluation of new products.
